Tesoro Cibola The Tesoro Cibola combines "HOT" (High Output Technology with built in Mineralization Rejection, for turn on and go simplicity. Silent search ED180 discrimination, and a threshold based All Metal mode which is accessed with a push button pinpoint, a frequency shift selector from 14.3kHz to 14.7kHz to eliminate other detector interference, all combine to make this 2.2 pound machine a winner.

Default Cibola Discrimination Question

I read on here about having a test garden and doing airtests. So I had a penny, nickel, dime, quarter, gold ring, silver ring, soda can, piece of iron, and two pull tabs. No matter what discrimination I put it on even on max it picked up the soda cans, pull tabs, any suggestions or anyone have this happen? I dont know if maybe the machine is broke. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

Hi PJS, I apologize for not getting in here sooner to help you in your problem. As for a can, it presents a very large target and will break through your discriminator although it will be a sort of blip or double blip. This is with the discriminator set to maximum. There are several shapes and sizes of pulltab. You should be able to eliminate any response from them with your discriminator at maximum. But you may have one that is getting through. It depends on how deep or close these items are to the coil also. Also how they are oriented in relation to the coil makes a difference too. Also have you tried changing the attack angle? But if you are not able to get rid of most of these targets at maximum discrimination something may very well be wrong with your machine. I wish I were there to help you out. The Cibola is a great machine and if there is a problem,Tesoro will take care of it for you. Let me know and you can PM me if you like. I hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you very much for the help. When I get home I shall try going from different angles and depths that might have been the problem was I was only six inches away. Which I must add during the airtest my Cibola was picking stuff up 10 inches away.

I would think it strange that pull tabs are coming through with the discriminatio at max. You may want to get in touch with Tesor or your dealer about this.

Default discrimination

my experience with the cibola's disc was that it worked somewhat but was not great. now this does not particularly bother me as i prefer to hunt in all metal anyway because you never know what you might inadvertently disc out.
i use the 3x18" coil at the beach mainly for dry sand detecting (haven't really done any land detecting to speak of as yet) + i love it - it is plenty deep (for sure it detects 8") + covers a tremendous area. it is easy enough to swing + after you build up some arm strength you can easily use it for several hours.

Hi, When You Test Your Cibolas Discrimination Keep Your Test Items A Couple Of Inches Away.. Make Sure You Wave Them In Front At A Normal Scan Rate.. If Your Still Hearing The Test Items Then There Is Something Wrong With It..Hope This Helps.....Thanks
