Default small problem

i have been using my tesoro conquistador here in north michigan where the soil is sandy. while i stay on the regular soil every thing goes fine . here we use lots of crushed stone to make road beds or drive ways ect and when i get near stones or find small piles of them in the field my machine goes off. like normal i switch to all metal amd try to pin point and the machine will show a very large target, bigger than 8 inches and larger. some times it wil show many small target close together but in discrim mode just one.if it is a coin it would zero in good. if i dig there is always nothing but stones.they are not hot rocks. could this be the ground balance acting up because of the sudden change in soil make up . or am i doing something wrong. i keep my threshold low and my sense at 9 or less

Default Maybe the mineralization

Hi,
I am no familiar with the Tesoro machines but my geuss is that it has something to do with the mineralization in the stones. Just a thought.

I agree with mhardy 53 on the mineralization of the stones being the possible problem.Since you have no ground balance adjustment i would suggest adjusting the sensitivity down to 8 then sweep if that still falses try raising disc up a notch and if falsing continues try going down 7 sens and disc up another notch.Try differing sweep speeds and multiple cross sweeps at different angles to see if the target signal is strong from all directions and try to focus on the pinpoint intersect point at each cross sweep, you may also try raising the coil and check if the target hit is higher than a normal coin hit.The last thing or the first depending on experience in my opinion is trying pinpoint, and if your getting a large target response and a non specific pinpoint area it's iron.Just my opinion.
