Default hi all. just joined today.

just got a tesoro SAND SHARK last thursday.i am mainly hunting the beaches here on sunny long island and after alot of research and reading forums i decided this one should do the job. its real easy to assemble and once you set all the knobs its a breeze.after i set it up i took it out in the backyard to see how it did in regular dirt. after about 2 minutes i found a pair of pliers about 4-5 inches down.then we all went to the beach. i wanted to test it in dry sand and wet sand. as soon as we started walking in the sand i started hearing strong beeps. with this detector you have to dig every beep because its a pulse induction detector so there is no discrimination. founf the usual pul tabs and bottle caps but also a 1972 quarter, a black rock that really had a stong signal, a knife and a fishing weight. average depth was around 4 inches. after this little field test i am really hooked.this seems like a really good detector for what i need it for.fun .sun, and finding gold rings(hopefully). we had a blast.

That black rock just might turn out to be a corroded coin- silver or clad- who knows? Clean it up and let us know. You're off to a good start! HH

THANKS FOR THE WELCOME.

this is a great forum. i will definitely post pics as i find the goodies. i wish the water was warmer. at this time of year if you walk in only to the point where just your feet are covered you imediately get instant pain in your feet. i think i need some waterproof boots for the next month or so. i also cant wait to get my sand scoop. makes hunting alot easier and quicker.
