Tesoro Tejon The Tesoro Tejon is able to "see" to incredible depths to find those deep targets. Considered one of the BEST relic machines available. With a high output transmit oscillator to push the signal deeper, and increased gain for more sensitivity to smaller objects. At 17.5kHz, and with MAXBoost sensitivity, a dual ED180 discriminator, and a 3 3/4 turn manual ground balance control, in a very lightweight housing, the Tejon will find those Civil War buttons and miniballs deeper than you can imagine.

Default Tried the Tejon out and....

I was very impressed by how it workrd for me. I went to an old grove in which political speeches were given on the 4th of July many years ago but there was so much trash that I did not get anything. However the great find that I did make was that I was digging a whole lot less because of the alternate desrimination switch which kept me from digging a lot of trash. Another place that I went myself and another friend went to a Yankee campsite and found several bullets one three ring a teardrop (36 caliber bullet) and one in which I am not sure what it is. I will try to post a picture of it . It is all lead with the typical hole that a sharps carbine had on it however irt had a pattern in it on the side of the bullet and what looks likw a crimp mark. Any way Had a great time sweated alot and worked the shoulder really well.

Any more updates on the Tejon? I'm going to order one from Chuck as soon as I get some personal matters settled. Interested in how you like it.

I don't have any updates since the other day because I haven't been able to go out again due to an extensive Honey Do list but hopefully I will be able to go this weekend. I know when I was out on our last adventure the guy that was with me was singing the Tejon's virtues and I am as well due to the ease of use and it's descrimination abilites. As soon as I go out again I will let you know the results!

Default Try this, maybe...

Set the #1 disc at foil or just below nickels. Set the #2 disc at the point where pulltabs break up.(make sure this is really noticeable and not just a "click". Also make sure the tabs you set it with fall in the tab range-some of the newer square tabs register as nickels.) Now, when you come across a signal in #1 disc, switch to #2 and if it goes silent, it's in the nickel range. If it breaks up, it's in the tab range. And if it still gives a good signal,, it's in the coin range. Your own notch detector! I have installed a "tab check" toggle on my Silver umax and I have a lot of fun using this method. Of course the best method is beep and dig, especially for rings, but sometimes conditions dictate a little discrimination. Hope you enjoy!

The settings depend totally on the hunting situation. I hunt relics and I set my first discrimination between Iron and foil, I set the second one between foil and Nickle. I usually dig all solid hits that are smooth on the first discrimination. I use my thumb on the second discrim, and gradually turn it, to see where the signal breaks up, if I want an idea of what I am digging. I have found that Iron crackles as the signal breaks up, and big Iron it takes a while for the signal to disappear with moving the second discrim.

It is a great machine, and very deep. I dig my share of trash, but also dig my share of good stuff also. When in a trashy (nail) area, the small coil works very well. I've dug Indians as deep as 8 inches with the small coil...and don't rely totally on where it breaks up, I've had deep indians break up at foil. Just dig.
