Tesoro Vaquero The Tesoro Vaquero is a very versatile, all around detector, designed to do just about every kind of hunting you could want. With a 3 3/4 turn, manual ground balance, "HOT" (High Output Technology), and an ED180 "silent search" discriminator, a push button pinpoint, and a VCO style all metal mode, this detector at just under 2.2 pounds has "do anything power".

Hey jimknife welcome to the site. The Vaquero is a sweet machine. Very quick response time, super deep, and nice and light. I had looked real hard at one of those when I was deciding.

John from John's Detectors knows these machines real well maybe he will chime in on it.

Good luck with the V, and get a good digger, Beale.

I have never used one but do know how important it will be to take some time to get to know the machine well. JC

Default Vaquero

Thanks for the response. Just seeing if anyone was reading these post. I had not seen any activity since Nov. Yes, I am talking of the Tesoro Vaquero. Still reading instructions. Just wanted to know if I had not made a wise choice. My wife took over the Ace 250, so I had to get my own. I thought by lack of discussion, the Vaquero was not a good machine. Thought there were some thoughts, or shortcuts, on operation. Looks like I have to put in the time to REALLY learn the machine. Which is what I intend in doing. How Is the depth on the Vaquero. Any id tips anyone wants to share.

Hi, You Are Really Not Going To Know If You Like It Until You Use It.. I Read Reviews On This Machine And They Were All Positive.. I Hear The Vaquero Goes Deeper Than The Cibola And The Tejon Plus It's Alot Quieter Than Tejon. Furthermore You Have A Manual Ground Balance Control Not Found On The Cibola..It Looks To Have A Short Learning Curve But I Would Not Expect You To Be Proficient With It Until You Ran It For At Least 50 Hours....Thanks

Hi Jim, you have a fine detector there that can make great finds for you. I have lots of hours behind many Tesoro's and just learn the tone and it will tell you much. Be sure to accurately GB the machine and depending on what you are mostly searching for set the disc. accordingly. The all metal mode may be more than what you want to deal with right now. Set the Thresh control to where you can just hear it with very little waivering. You can supertune the unit but I never use this setup. But you must take it into the field and spend a lot of time with it and after a certain time things will start clicking for you. Ok good luck and enjoy the Vaquero. God Bless.
