Howdy folks, I was wondering if anyone is using the H.O.T 5.75 Widescan Coil? If you are, Im looking for a review on it for coins in trashy sites?

I have both the concentric and the widesscan. When I switch to a small coil, I usually put the concentric on, I hear there are advantages to both of them. I have not used the widescan very much, but I've heard it can pick up coins on edge a little better and does better in mineralized soil. I 've dug an Indian head on edge at 8 inches with the concentric, don't see how you could do much better. I use the small coil a lot around old house sites and civil war sites and it does a good job separating the good from the bad.. You can pick out good signals you can't get with the stock coil. You really have to move slow with it, I am glad the tesoros have the slow sweep speed, makes them very good trash hunters.
Last week I hunted an old homesite I had hunted a couple times last fall that was full of square nails. I went over an area about 20' X 15' with the stock coil and dug 2 flat buttons, I went back over the same area with my 5.75 and dug 8 more. I don't think there is a perfect answer to hunting in trash, but the small coil is a close as I have got. Hope this helps.

Yep it does pretty good. I use one on my Cibola and it stays on!!!! At first the pinpointing seems difficult but its not really. Once I figured it out I really appreciate this coil. It seems to be very good in trashy areas and easily picks out goodies. I'm not sure there really is an advantage over the 5.75 concentric unless you are in mineralized ground. I still like it regardless!!!!
