Greg--
My reference library is awfully thin on the subject of Civil War tokens, so I can't help much. The "value me as you pleas(e)" statement started with the "Higley coppers" (Google that for more information on the origin of the term). I recently joined the Civil War Token Society (www.cwtsociety.com - a bargain at $10 per year, plus they offer discounted books) to see if I could learn more about the field. In general, a rotated die is not considered unusual with tokens. A spelling error makes a token more enjoyable - I always think of the "shoot him on the spoot" CW token error. John in ID |
