Default Civil War Token

I bought several pounds of tokens a while back.
This Civil War Token was in the mix.
Does anyone no the type with "1" & "D" on the reverse?

gregory the front 13 stars and the rim looks like it was made from a large cent. on the back when zoomed in looks like part of a reath./like on a large cent. the 1-d wasnt stamped in. but reversed. // a stamp that wont indent but indentd everything but the 1-d. just my 2 cents.

Default from the red book

well as far as i know the date fits. says in the red book that the tokens were made early 1860-1864 . stopping in 1864 due to the bronze coins met public demand of that time . so from what i can see its says 1863 . its hard to say what exactly it is. because there were estimated 50,000,000 or more of one cent pieces made and around 10,000 different varieties have been so far recorded .

Greg,
It took forever to figure this one out!

The type is Miss Liberty with Phygian Cap... I think I spelled Phygian wrong! It was a standard variety, probably made in New York -- Spring of 1863.

Anyway, as to the reverse: The bottom word is MEDAL. The D is the only letter still legible on yours. Now the top word is a bit harder, but my guess is WILSON'S.

So, it is a 1 cent Civil War merchant token. The back probably says:
"Wilson's Medal" around the numeral 1.

I am 90% sure that my guess is on track. Hope it helps!

Ed
