Hello Guys, My name is Jeb ,and I was just passing through when i noticed your site, so being as its about detectoring , i just thought i`d Join and say Hi to you all. I am from Wales , in the United Kingdom. and i actually use a Minelab EXPLORER although i have had an XLT and a DFX for short times , but i must confess i`ve always gone back to The Minelab . We have Lovely countryside over here to detect in, If we get permission that is, and our beaches to be honest are NOT so good, owing to the fact that our weather isn`t as good as yours over in the USA, in places such as Florida and all the other Sun kissed places. I am going to look in for a while and see how you guys operate. We have a Couple of Large detector Forums over here One being The UKND forum and , one the Rallyuk forum. So i will be interested to see if you work on the same lines as us. hope to speak to you now and then Jeb

Why thank you pappy . i notice your Forum isn`t as Talkative as the ones i use over here in the UK. I also note you over here do a fair bit of Coin shooting or relic hunting whereas over in the UK we tend to not specialize for either just plain detect. Were luckier i suppose as we mainly hunt for Ancient Celtic or Saxon , or medieval hammered coins are our Goal.unfortunately for where i live in Wales we do not have much earlier coins than Roman . we do find a fair amount of Medieval Stuff My oldest to date is a Henry 111 rd silver penny from approx 1220 AD, My most valuable was a Charles the 1st Halfcrown ,Shrewsbury mint . 1644, which i sold for in your money approx $1700. My oldest Artifact as we call them. you i believe call them relics, was a Bronze age weapon called a Halberd. it was approx 2000 BC. It is a Dagger looking weapon which has 3 rivits holding it on to the end of a 10 ft pole at right angles for stabbing at a distance , for possibly Bear or wolf maybe? I sold that for $400, as it did have the Point missing ,by an inch or two.
Anyway i went out yesterday and didn`t have much luck, all i had to show for Two hours tecting was a 1797 George 111 rd Cartwheel penny, a 1908 Edward V11 Copper penny and a 1880 silver Victoria sixpence. Plus the usual lead musket balls. (Brown Bess size) i think you`d know them as. But hope to go out again Tommorow with a Mini 5 in Coil on. get back to you again some time. |
