Wink Tony in Upstate NY

I am pretty lucky I have two great hobbies #1 is motorcycling and #2 detecting. During the day I work at a local H-D dealership after taking an early out from the USPS (17 yrs). The only problem in these two hobbies is that being in upstate NY you can not have fun for the entire year. I started detecting a little more then 20 years ago started out with an older Whites that really confused me. Moved on to Garretts for the last 20 years and never thought about changing brands until I joined a few detecting forums and started reading about the Tesoros. Anyway made the switch this year and just got my silver last month. Only have about three hours on it but I wish I would have known about this machine years ago. I am hoping to have a great season with it. Cheers....

That is a sweet bike in your picture! You for sure have 2 nice hobbies. I sold my bike back in August, need to get another.

Congrats on the silver and the Tesoro! Which model did you get? They are a very good detector. I am sure you will do well with it, Beale.

Thumbs up

I went with the silver uMAX. For the last 20 years or so I was playing with Garretts. I started with an old Whites and was real frustrated with it but I really liked detecting. I then went with the master hunter and then the GTA series. When I left the postal service and started working my new gig I kind of gave up hunting then clear out of the blue my oldest got a GTAx400. When he moved away he left it here for awhile and I started getting back into the swing of it, so I figured I better get a new detector of my own. Sooooooo I started logging in to all these forums and newsgroups and one of the things that I really started seeing was how dedicated these Tesoro users were. They really gave me the impression that these were like harley guys. The more research I did the more I came to the conclusion that a Tesoro would be making its way to me. Being in upstate NY with the snow still flying and frozen ground I don't have but about three hours on the uMAX but I did get to break it in by detecting a few gravel parking lots. So far I am HIGHLY impressed with it. I swear it is a coin magnet. In all my years of detecting with the garrett I bet I never popped more then 5 or 6 nickels. My first hour with the uMAX I hit 14 or them it was unbelievable. The only thing I have to come up with now is how to come up with some sort of way to get it into my saddlebag on the bike without having to break it down.

As for the bike I couldn't be without one kind of like a religious thing for me. Maybe you could get a new bike by using all the clad coins you find this year I shouldn't laugh after reading about some of the finds on this forum I think many of you will be able to just do that.

Hey Tony the silver umax is a very sweet machine. I have read lots of high praise for it! I am sure you will do very well with it.

As to the bike. I do miss mine. I put 11,578 miles on it in 2 years of riding. I have really been looking at the new Cross Bones, I really like the retro look, Beale.

Both great hobbies, I really miss riding, but with a wife that doesn't ride and a dog that goes about everywhere with us, I don't think if I had one I could ride much . Tesoro does make a nice detector and with a lifetime warranty!
