Default Thought i'd say hello

Just been given a Fisher 1266-x detector. Now as i've never done this before, i thought it would be a good idea to join a forum. I've read the manual a couple of times but, to be quite honest, i was lost. If anyone can point me in the right direction i would be very grateful.

Near to where i live are several woodlands and farmers fields. I'm well aware that i need permission to "use" these. Also, there's a nice beach that's quite popular in the summer months not far from me either.

Going to see a local farmer to ask permission to use some of his land tomorrow. Apparently there's been some interesting finds there. These being hammered silver coins, musket balls, lead seals and the like. So far i've been the master of finding junk but, hopefully i'll come accross something half decent tomorrow and then i'll be hooked.
Thanks for the welcome and i'll certainly show you any finds i get
[fingers crossed]
