New to TQ
Hey there,
My name is Dave and I'm from Chenango County of upstate NY. I just started detecting last year - went right out and bought a DFX. Quite a learning curve to it - I bought it in July and I was just starting to get comfortable with it and along came winter. Now I'm dieing for spring to get here. For the short time I've had it I've had great luck - 7 Large Cents oldest one 1826, 1 Barber Half, 4 Standing liberty quarters, one XF 1864 Indian head, a dozen or so Mercs and 5 silver rings. I've done my homework over the winter and now have numeruous old cellar holes and a couple old fairgrounds from the mid 1800's to hit- as soon as this dam snow melts. This is a great site ya got here and I look forward to sharing my finds and enjoying others. Do many people here use a DFX? Thanks again Davy

Welcome Davy, nice to meet you!
There's a thread started where alot of posters have listed what type of detector they use. Check the "General" thread, I think it's in that section. Ed

i use a DFX also. they are tough to learn. i really like it though. good luck!

Howdy neighbor u live 2 and a half hours away. I'm in amsterdam ny. Maybe we can get another member or two to do a summer trip to a cellar hole. I'd be willing to make that drive for a day trip to a cellar hole. Depending on the area, I'd be willing to camp for 1 or 2 days. I have a screwed up schedule that gives me a 3 day weekend twice a month, I also have to work 2 three day weekends a month. I'm a beach hunter for the past 3 years and I'm looking for cache hunting opertunities. I would also be willing to sift an entire cellar hole. I'm really diggin' the past man. PM me if your interested. If we don't hook up a trip maybe we could help share local and general info on upstate ny treasure hunting. Jason

I'm just about out of work here for the night - my relief is due anytime now - I'll PM you tomorrow. Sounds like a plan - I have access to many cellar holes that havn't been hit yet.
