Talking Newbie from South Carolina

Hi all...Im new to this hobby....less than 2 weeks old
I bought 2 Minelab Muskateers one for me and one for my girlfriend...
so far ive found 4 nails and 2 1994 pennies...lol
I have permission to search a old house and land about 70-80 years old..
ive been finding square nails so i figure there is something of value there besides pop tops and nails....The house is a wreck and condemed and there is also a mother in-law house behind it....I estimate about 4 acres
of land mostly grown over with tall grass...The yard is mowed grass but under the grass is packed gravel...I dont understand that at all...Its pretty hard to dig....With the red clay we have here for soil im having a very hard time ground balancing and distinguishing between good signals and the ground
But Im having fun

Hi rotty23

sounds alot like new mexico ground except for the red clay that is just in patches, but the ground is clay sand and rock.

discrim out the nails and that should help in balancing the machine ,, red clay is a high iron ,,

Glad to have you here,, cant wait to see your first silver !!! its there where your looking and it wont be long in coming!!

Is your Nick in reference to the doggy Rotties?

Rick

Hi Rotty,
Welcome to the TQ forum.
Do you have an Iron Mask button on your Minelab? If so try that.

Good luck on your outings.

Greg

Yes in the early 90s i had a few for showing...Don have any now due to insurance company policies...they consider them vicious and wont insure your property
