Hey Metalman!
Glad to hear from someone from my state. I'm rather new to the metal detecting hobby, and I could sure use some help. Have you done any gold detecting around the Cottage Grove/ Bohemia mines area? I've been sluicing in that area and found a little, but I recently got one of the original Gold Bugs so I can start detecting for nuggets. Ever use one of them? I think I've found everything in my backyard with it, so I'm pretty familiar with it now, just don't have a clue where to find nuggets. Any suggestions as to where other people do detecting for nuggets around Cottage Grove? I've read a lot of info about where you're supposed to look, but haven't talked with anybody who could suggest exactly where to look. Any help would be appreciated. I see you live in New Mexico now. I love that country down there. Wish I lived there instead of Oregon. I was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas (El Paso) for a few years and made a few trips around the area with some friends. At the time, I wasn't into prospecting at all. Wish I had been, what with all the old mines and stuff around the El Paso mountains. Well, hope to hear from you! New Member but not new to TH'ing
Hi All
My name is Dave Mork and I hail from Sterling Virginia. I have always been a coin shooter but also enjoy searching for relics. I am in civil war country and get out when ever I am able. Right now it looks as if the season is over till spring. I have been in the hobby since 1977 so have some experience behind me. I have used several Whites detectors since 1984 having used Jetco, Bounty Hunter, and Compass detectors. I now use a Whites DFX and have a XLT as my back up detector.
