Hey Hippie, You're in Racine? I'm right next door to you in Kenosha!
There sure are plenty of places to look around here.
I have not checked of what the history is in Racine, but Kenowhere seems to have some really good history and good possiblilities too look at.
Name here is Eric.

Great! Congrats on graduating. I know people that go to that AG! Small world.
I tried to hit the beach on Monday evening, but something about all those very close cloud to ground lightening strikes made me change my mind after about 5 min.
Something about walking on the beach swinging a metal rod back and forth just seemed like I was pressing my luck. Oh well, I will try to get out there again soon.

If you're familiar with Kenosha, stop by Pike Creek Outfitters. It is primarily a fishing shop, but they also have a good selection of MD equipment too. I picked up a sand scoop on Monday from there.

All the beaches are good. There are a TON of parks in Kenosha.
Take a look at: http://www.kenosha.org/departments/p...t_a_Glance.pdf
There were more parks than I had ever thought. One excellent spot in the parks is under the monkey bars. Those have proven to be very good spots. Lately I have been hitting Wolfenbuttel Park over by the Marina. Two weeks ago I found a ring on the side of the bike trail there. What's really cool is to see the dates some of these parks were founded. Granted they have probably been hunted hard, but I'm sure there are plenty of other things left behind.

I had asked a couple of people and it sounds like the closest one was in Milwaukee. There are quite a few people detecting in Kenosha, probably enough to have a group...time is the only thing needed.

One other place I have seen people detecting is at Petrified Springs State Park. I once hit the playground area while my daughter played and came out with a dollar and some change after an hour.
