in response to yer most recent query... the answer is the hms jane and the hms ranger under the command of Lt. Maynard. the jane ran aground was severly damaged but the ranger continued and defeated the adventurer under the command of black beard...

the dat of this event was the 22nd of November, in the yeaar of our lord 1718

Ok let me try this one....
On February 5th the "Swallow" captianed by Challoner Olgle, caught up with the "Royal Fortune" captianed by Bartholomew Roberts "black bart"....Olgle sent a bombardment of cannon fire upon the royal fortune...this took place near Cape Lopez in Gabon

Captain Jonathon Barrets privateer sloop caught up with Calico Jacks stolen 'William' anchored near Nigril Bay in early October 1720...the battle was fought at night.
