Foundry @ Grand Tower IL....
This location is right on the Mississippi river at Grand Tower IL. Its full of history and just a cool place to visit. Theres a campground located on the site of the old foundry with several places to hike and fish along the river. In the summer theres always a nice breeze to camping here rocks. Heres a link to the history and some pics of our trip...
THE DEVIL'S BACKBONE & BAKE OVEN Heres a pic of the foundry house back in the old days...  Heres a pic of the same location today....  This pic is on top of the rock where the house used to stand , looking back down on the Mississippi..    This is whats left of the old foundry houses foundation...    There is a natural gas pipeline which crosses the river here on a suspension bridge. Heres some pics of it.         Another pic of the rock where the foundry house was located....  Some pics of whats left of the foundry. These where the chimneys of the open hearths cut into the rock bluffs.....      Heres a pic of the river. These pics where taken about 8-10 hours apart at the same location. The river was rising fast....

I Love that first shot. Is that the old Mausoleum ? I've filled up my favorites list with places you've posted. Now to find the time for a trip south
 . Amazing pics, and I like to see the kids in the shots too. They look so happy to be out with Dad  Terri

That is the superintendent of the foundry's house. The link I posted to the site with the history of the site came up funny looking. Its the "Devil Bake oven- Devil Backbone " words. I don't know why the link came up like that instead of like a regular link??

The link worked fine, I got the same info that you had posted last year. I just got it mixed up with the mausoleum pic you had. Of course that could have been cause I really liked the mausoleum shot, Creepy Cool
