Default silver bought at 9.62 oz last night...

Don't let your silver eagles get scabby.....or they're not worth the metal they're made of. These girls won't be getting airtites. I think since they were listed as "7 pretty ladies" and closed at 1:30 am....maybe the folks who were still up at that hour thought they were walkers.

I paid 67.40 (ppd) for this lot of 7 silver eagles last night on eBay....or 9.62 oz, delivered. Silver closed at 13.95 yesterday when the markets closed for the weekend.

My bullion doesn't care if it's shiny at that price. That's about what a refinery would pay me for them (if they were 90 percent silver) so I figure they'd pay more for .999 fine, but my plan is long term anyway, so maybe in 10 years they'll be worth much more.

Default instant profit!

How often do you get silver at less than market price? I was into siver bullion for a while, wanted to build a big hoard. My spending $ exceded
my discipline. I have always wondered how someone would unload a large amount of bullion. Would there be a solid buyer that would give you Spot price? I could understand the value dropping due to appearence as a trading unit but then why couldnt you get spot price?
Ahh, silver is nice to have.

I see large lots of bullion coins that I couldn't begin to afford sold on eBay all the time. If you sell to a refinery, as I do my real scrappers....you get about 80 percent of spot. eBay will get you strong retail for the right stuff.

It's easy to spend too much money doing this. That's why I try and makes sure to find some deals that do have items of numismatic interest as well. I bought 5 morgan dollars in the 1880s and 90s for a hundred bucks....and one is an 1886-S (mintage 750 thousand) in VF.....and I'll get 60 bucks for that one easily enough. I'll end up with 10 bucks apiece in the other 4.....or I could sell the entire lot for 150 bucks and buy some silver eagles whose silver weight would eclipse that of the morgans by a substantial margin.

I also bought a lot of 7 buffalo nickels yesterday. There is 1-1916, 3-1917s, 1 1919, a 1920-S, and a 1929-D. I paid 11 dollars to the door for all 7 coins. The 1920-S is worth about twice what I paid for the lot....so I'll get some freebies from that group. I'll build some nice nickel rolls that way and sell them off...because I don't collect niickels. There are plenty of folks who do though.

I have this thing to where it has to start paying for itself now. I've spent about all of the expendable cash that I intend to for awhile.

Default I got the grandest surprise...

I got the 7 "pretty ladies" this morning.....and I don't know how that guy was able to take such a lousy picture. Maybe it was done on a flatbead scanner, but all of those coins are MS-65 or better.....and only one had any toning at all. Turns out that it was a better deal than I even imagined.

I put them in airtites and carded and boxed them. I just got the new storage boxes for them this morning too. Each box holds 20 carded airtites.
