Default Detector Stand for DFX?

Wondering if anyone had either made a stand or has seen one advertised.

I realized that my Explorer SE has two metal feet as part of the control box and the DFX does not. I realized this fact as I was hunting with the DFX and kept putting it down to dig --- putting it down with the control box sitting directly on the ground.

Seems like with a little ingenuity some type of stand could be devised (if it does not already exist). I was thinking a few short pieces of 1" PVC pipe and some method of attaching to the upper rod......?

Thoughts?

Thanks

George

My MXT came with some peel and stick on rubber feet, keeps it off the ground by about 3/4 ". Also seen some snap on stands, on e bay, search Whites , in handheld detectors, the stands (several different ones) come up often, for auction. Rich.

I have those rubber feet too, but in the woods, 3/4" isn't enough to raise the control box above dirt/leaves/etc. I'll look at the Whites site and on Ebay.

Thanks for the input.

Yeah, they do. I saw one the other night on another forum. A guy makes them for about $20. They are made of PVC and attaches to the rod.
Unfortunately, I belong to about 7 forums and don't rememver which one I saw it at. I did a quick search but haven't been able to find it for you.
Will let you know if I find it.

Here's the site that I was mentioning. The guy sells a PVC type stand.
Friendly MD Forum, under the classified section.
"Easy Clip Stand"

"EasyClip"stand for your detector - Friendly Metal Detecting Forums

Hope this helps.

I found yet another site with ideas on making your own detector stand. So I went down to the local hardware store and bought some PVC pipe, a few fittings and some spray paint.

To my amazement I created my own clip on stand for the DFX in about 20 minutes for about $15 (with the spray paint being the most costly item).

For inspiration, look at this link:

DIY Detector Stand

I discovered that for the DFX, a 1/2" tee fitting will snap onto the rod if you cut the tee fitting at 10 and 2 o'clock and file down the inside a bit. I have the final product drying right now, but I'll post some pics later on.

As promised here are a few pictures of the finished product.

It is probably a bit taller than it needs to be, but I'm happy with my first and only attempt. The vertical stem is threaded so I can rotate the feet 90 degrees while detecting so they don't hit me when I'm swinging the detector.
