Default Anyone use a DFX?

Does anyone on the forum use a White's DFX? I have just purchased one and should have it by the weekend. Any tips from users?
Thanks

Default Re., Anyone use a DFX?

mhardy53: I bought one two weeks ago and have only used it twice. It takes a bit of getting used to, especially if you are like me and used an analog detector in the past. Let us know how you progress and I will do the same.

Default Tried out the DFX today

I took my new DFX out today and I can say it is going to take some getting use to. I have an XLT and there are some simalarities. However, there are some big differences. Found close to $9.00 all in grass and the deepest was about 6 inches. Nthing old all clad and pennies. I had trouble finding nickels. I think I dug a ton of pop tops. Don't give up on your machine cause I think after we learn more about it we will be very happy.

Keep at it Mike before long you will know it well. On a side note I've owned my XLT for 6 years or more and I'm still learning on every outing. I guess thats why I like it so much.

Hey everyone, my first time on the site. I am new to the hobby with a new DFX. I have only used it twice, but have read a ton of articles and studied a bunch of programs on the DFX. It will take some getting use to, but I have no doubt that it is a very good machine. I have never owned a metal detector before now and am anxious to get more hands on and experimenting with some programming. I am presently living in Tucson, Az until November. Then back to Florida. I am taking a week the middle of this month to do some detecting in my home town area of Southeast Kansas. I know of several Potential MONEY POTS!!

Good Luck Hunting

Welcome

to the T.Q. family Treasure hunter.
You are correct the DFX is a very good machine. All it takes is (as with any machine) lots of practice.

I would humbly suggest just using the coin program, when you feel comfortable with it, move on the the coin/jewelry one. This should help you get used to the variations in the tones.

There are a lot of nice folks here that use the DFX and will be most willing to help you in any way they can.

Great Machine but like everyone else said, It has a little learning curve. Just Practice & Practice Some more. Diggin Deeper with the DFX by Jeff Foster is a Good book to get. You can also get help at the DFX Only website. Great people there. Just keep at it and you'll get the hang of it.

Good Luck & HH
