I agree with Pris that Whites has great service and so far satisfied my repair problems with moderate charges and great results. I'm curious on what they repaired if you would care to mention best of luck to ya !! HH Bill

Well, unfortunately, I finally got to take the Spectrum out yesterday and it has the same problem that I sent it in for. I'll have to say that I'm really disappointed in White's right now. Fast turnaround means very little when the problem wasn't addressed correctly. The repair order says they recalibrated the pre-amp board but it does the same thing it was doing.

I quess I'll call the white's factory and see what they can do for me. I hate spending money and getting nothing in return.

Send it back and tell them to keep it until it works the way it should and if it can't be fixed cheap ask them to notify you as to repair cost. They should give you a big discount on shipping and labor. Like Zero Charge!! Good Luck Hunter. HH Bill

Hey Bill,
Called the white's factory yesterday morning and told them that the unit was returned from their repair center in IL in the same condition that it was shipped to them. The lady in the repair dept. (Nadine) said to ship it to them in OR. and put a note in it that Nadine said the if would be fixed for free..... So I boxed it back up, put a note about the free repair along with what was wrong with it and a copy of the repair order from the IL center. I'm hoping that it will be fixed this time and that only cost I will incur will be the $13 it took to ship it back to them.

I guess what irritates me the most was the fast turn around was at the expense of good trouble shooting...... and the fact that I'll have to go another two weeks unable to hunt.

Thats too bad Hopefully they will test the unit before they send it back to you. They should also refund your $13 since if they had repaired it properly in the first place, you wouldn't have to be sending it out again.

Good luck! Hopefully they will get it back to you quickly.

Keep in mind that the place you sent it before is a or supposedly so whites certified repair center,, the place in oregon is the actual whites company and their home office ,,

I think you find that the machine will be given extra attention in oregon and the repair center you sent it to may have a few problems from their lack of service although that is something that can only be speculated about .

Hope the machine comes back tip top !!

I have considered sending mine in just for preventive maintenance and still may depending on what happens with yours.

The Saga continues.
Got my spectrum back last Thursday. Wasn't able to test it until this morning. Turned it on and it has the same problem it was sent in twice for. First time White's repair center said they "tuned" it. That cost $68.00. The tech at the factory said he believed humidity was causing my problem. His fix was to spray lacquer on the suspect components. Cost, $13.00 shipping. Six weeks of lost hunting, $71.00 in repair costs. Priceless.

I'm about to the point where I'm considering cutting my losses and moving on to my next hobby.

Well it took a while, but after two months and three returns to the factory, White's finally gave up on repairing my Spectrum. So they asked if I would accept a factory refurbed "XLT" as an even trade. I jumped on the offer and received the unit last Thursday. The "XLT" looks brand new. I hope to get to check it out in the next day or two.
