Default New to detecting

I'm only two days old in this detecting stuff with my new Classic 5ID. I've read that it can do "some beac" detecting. Does that mean only searching in the dry sand or can the wet sand be searched also? I assume searching in the water is a no-no?

Hi parkerbg and welcome to TQ!

Dry sand is fine and so is the wet sand but it may be more difficult because of mineralization. Try it and if your detector is making alot of noise you may have to turn your sensitivity down.

Definitely don't let the control box get wet and if you have the coil in the water don't raise it above horizontal to prevent water from running down the cable into the electronics.

Glad to have you with us!

Welcome!!!!

Ive owned the Whites classic ID .... I think its similar to the one you own...It ran well in the wet and dry sand just turn the Sen. down a little in the wet...It will also find small gold chains alot of detectors wont hit on.. The coil is waterproof but as you know the box is not.

good huntin to ya
