The Blue Max 15" coil is for use on 6.59kHz detectors and won't work on the M6,MXT or DFX. That Whites compatibility page with the coil pictures should have more distinction on the frequency change from 3-15kHz coils vs 6.59kHz coils.
The Super 12" Concentric or 8"x14" DD Coils would most likely be the best choices for larger than stock coils on the M6. HH Bill |

Can't answer in tech terms as it's out of my paygrade
But it basically boils down to coil compatibility in frequency and circuitry to send a coherent signal response to the control box cirquits that can be deciphered and in turn produce an audible and or visual target response to the operator. If the coil and the control box are not in electronic harmony it causes a big traffic jam of crossed signals and jibberish results similar to this response The 5.3 Bullseye and 5.3 Eclipse are identical in appearance except for decals but a bit different design internally.
