Default DFX depth question

In search of some old coins with the standard coil...I am trying to get the best depth possible, and in the learning process!!!

I am using the Relic program. In one area I am able to turn my
preamp gain up to 4
also turned my ac sensitivity up to 75...My DFX seems to be stable.

All the iron signals are clear signals, all others have been iffy signals. (Keep in mind they are all deep targets) 10, 12, inches or more)

My question is...is this normal!
Should I be using another program to bump up?
Not sure if I should be changing my DC sensitivity and how much when changing AC sensitivity?
Should I be changing something else?

Also my depth indicator is off?

Hope someone can help!
Or maybe have a good program I could try!

Thanks for any help!!!
Pat

Seems to me you have a pretty good set up right there. In relic mode you will experience iron signals that are clear. You may want to change your filter setting and sweep speed. More filter , less speed.
If you'd like to discuss it further let me know. I could call you or you could call me.

I'm back! Thanks Tony...Your tips really helped. Things are a lot clearer now! The signals that is!!! I can see through the dirt again!

I was able to pull more smaller objects at greater depth other than rusty nails and iron with these changes, with a more clear tone!

Thanks very much for the help! I was today instead of

Default Congrats on your new depth

Congratulations on your new depth of dirt there Pat!!! That looks like the remains of a V nickle to me but then again I am not so sure. Surprising how a little adjustment to your unit can yield such good results. I am not familiar with your type of detector and since mine sorta melted, I am considering one. Does yours discriminate junk metal at reasonable depths? My GTA 400 was a little to close to a fire and transformed into a glob of metal and plastic.

Thanks,
James

Hi Toadie! My answer to your question is yes. It will discriminate anything you want...I agree with lucasi...one of the features I like is the learn and reject feature...You can have it learn an object or several and reject everything else! You decide which types of metals you want to pick up on!

Here are some more finds from today!
