Default Ground balancing the MXT

When I was talking to the Whites tech about the phones he also gave me a great tip on ground balancing which I did not know, #1 . turn off machine (MXT) and hold waist level 2. flip to prospecting mode and ground .
3. turn off all discrimination. 4. turn on full gain and slowly lower to ground the # on the screen when you start it up should be 50 keep it on the ground untill the # goes up to 70+ flip the switch to lock and prospecting mode( lock first ) I have been doing this for two days and what a big difference, when you flip the pinpoint switch forward it really is on the mark when it does discriminate, I hunt relic and dig up almost anything so use your discrimination to fit the appropriate situation. good luck!!!!

Setting the MXT up like you wrote, can you switch it back to the coin and jewlery mode and leave it locked? Will it preform better also. In my back yard the normal reading is 23.

Default ground balancing

yes it will work, jewlery and relic are the same but i have been told that in relic mode it is more accurate with the size and you get more depth out of the machine, especially with the DD coils.

Tried this tip yesterday. I have a lot of minerals in the soil here and was amazed at how much more stable the machine seemed to be. Didn't have near the chatter I usually do. Set it up as suggested and switched to relic, great tip, thanks.. Bob

I purchased the MXT on Monday, my very first metal detector.

My question is; Do I have to ground balance everytime I turn the machine off and on ?

Default Great tip, and a timely one too!

I just took my new MXT out of the box yesterday afternoon. Right now, I feel like I am trying to learn quantum physics or something. I will have to check out your tip. Thanks!

I also received my Vibra Probe 560. Nice unit! Will have to ebay the new Bullseye II and carry pouch because this VP 560 is really cool!

I played around with the MXT a bit yesterday. Just in the basement to get a feel for it. How much does this thing weigh? Man, I could really feel the strain in my bicep after 10 minutes or so, and I am in pretty good shape!

Well, I have committed to reading through all of the manuals and documentation at least twice today, then watching the video and doing some more tinkering.

I would love to get out and give it a try outdoors, but I would hate to lose a foot to frostbite!!!
