Default beach hunting

Just got back from Florida and tested a Garrett GTA 400 on several salt water beaches and found that it is a great beach machine, it was right on with all coins and trash, also hunted in wet sand and there was no interference at all, I dug a quarter at 12-13 inches and I like the fact that you can pass over a pull tab and hit the discrimination and it will not bother with them but still hits nickles

Default Hello Again LCP....

....I have only one word for you in this post and it is:

DISCRIMINATOR!!!

Regardless of what machine you buy or where you buy it, don't make the mistake of buying a non-discriminating detector.

Regardless of where you hunt....there is usually a fair share of trash, and in some cases down right major trash. Give yourself the option of running with discriminate on at what ever setting you choose, or off.

You'll be glad you did!

Sorry to disagree but I have to say that using a Whites PI here in Ct is better than most detectors by far...Discriminator or not. If you are limiting yourself to beach dry sand then I'll agree on the discriminator , but wet slat sand and water , which I have a fair amount of time on , the PI punchess deeper and is more sensative. The gold finds far outweight the trash finds.
Whatever you decide I'm sure you'll do well and we'll all be here to help you out.

Default With All The Respect Which May Be Do.......

......DISCRIMINATOR!!!

The Tesoro Tiger Shark handles the wet salt sand perfectly!

Think about how discouraging it would be if you just keep scooping trash on your first 1st,2nd,3rd,4th, or 5th trip to the beach?

Over my time in this business, I have many customers who given up on their PI machines fairly quickly.

It's your choice LCP, just trying to save you the frustration.

Good luck in your choice which ever it might be!

I stand by my statements and my 32 years hunting salt water beaches here in CT and MA. To each his own but that's the way I see it. PI's for salt water , anything else for fresh since you want the most depth you can get and discrimination will limit your depth especially on salt water beaches . Have a great day everyone and see you at the beach ( With my PI of course )

I never said that the Tiger Shark wouldn't work in wet salt conditions. I also never said that the Tiger Shark was a bad detector. And I never said you couldn't find anything with it in those conditions. I was just giving my opinion on the question asked. I think maybe you're taking this a little too personal Chuck. It was not meant to be personal.

Smile No Problem Tony.....

....not taken personal at all.

Just making the point that not every solution is best for everyone. What works for one in a certain area of the country doesn't necessarily work for all, every where!

Wish you the best, and I have no hard feelings.

Thanks Guys

Hey guys just want to say thanks, I was given a blank check for christmas, for a new detector. It was down to either a White's beachhunter or surf PI pro or the Tesoro Sand or tiger shark. Now I'm narrowed down to the sand or the tiger. I'll let someone know when I',m ready to make the order
