Default Hello - New Member

I just wanted to drop a line and say hello. I currently have a White's Classic II SL that I don't use nearly enough. This model was actually my father's and it was handed down to me after his death. I really enjoy using it because it is easy to use and the tones are easy to understand. For me simpler is better and this would be all the detector I need for my purposes if the depth was a little better. I also have a lower end Bounty Hunter which actually discriminates very well although the depth is less than my Classic. I also owned a Garrett ACE 250 at one time but it didn't do all that well when it came to heavily mineralized soil. I would say that White's is my favorite just because I like more metal parts than plastic parts and the control box is right where it should be. I have been looking at a Tesoro Cibola but now the M6 is calling my name. Are there any Classic users out there? If so, I would like to here from you or any other White's fans. It will probably be a while before I can step up to the M6 - I also have a fishing habit that cuts into the finances.

Crappie fishing is my favorite. They taste the best. I just spent $150.00 on new driftmaster rod holders. I am waiting for late March to fill up the freezer.

Hi bsbowles,
Know what you mean about other hobbies, cut way back on fishing, crabbing and quit golf after the metal detecting bug hit BIG and still spend a lot on detectors and accessories, but what the heck we only go around once.
Have a Classic IDX Pro and the M6 and must say they are both excellent but the M6 is a definate advancement and love the 7 tone ID especially if hunting at trashy sites. Good Luck. HH Bill

Hi and welcome.
I have used Classics and their forrunners over the years and extensively tested them. The Classic II is a decent little detector . The M6 however is a pretty powerful detector to say the least. No frills but has the power of the MXT. You would not do bad in getting one. Let me know if I can be of any more help to you now or in the future.

Hey guys i just found this forum, looks fantastic, have a new m6 in the mail getting all excited about getting back out there after a 30 year dropout. started years ago with and old whites (collected over 2500 coins before i quit counting) i think it was something like a coin shooter, but it did the job, live in east tennessee and COLD as of today,
hope to get out soon. Glenn
