hi uncle milo,

this is only my opinion and since you asked

I believe the Classic 5 ID is only sold through ******* in a deal from Whites for not having access to the Prizm Series. I'm a fan of the Classics and have an IDX Pro . I believe Tony who is a sponser on the Forum mentioned (the Classic 5 is based on the Classic 2 ID) and if so lacks the depth of later IDX and IDX Pro's and the Classic 5 cannot use the many different coils available for the previous Classics. It utilizes the Prizm coils. It should be a good detector but at least you know the difference.

If budget is the main concern the Prizm IV would provide more features and should be a little better in trash with the 8" coil vs the 10" coil on the Prizm V. There a number of folks who use the Prizm's on this forum.

If budget is somewhat of a concern but willing go a bit higher for a mid level Whites the M6 is Excellent and should keep your interest for years to come and as you gain experience the awesome coil selection will be greatly appreciated. Just a few thoughts and opinions. Good luck with your purchase. HH Bill

You would do better with the Prizm V or M6. Newer in design and technology. The 5ID is older technolgy and the price is inflated. Let me know if you need any more help with your decision.

I called Kelly-co and they tried to push that model on me as well.

This model has a single tone "hummmmm" and does not vary with the type of target. It is my take that the circuit board is based on an older design and slower tracking.

If you are interested in a brand new ACE 250 I have one on eBay starting bid at $175.00
