Default Xlt Help

Just got a 3 year old xlt hardley ever used.... I have been out with it 3 times for about 6 hours and have had a small amount of success... $1 in total clad..

What I get is a lot of bottle cap readings, foil ring and pull tab and ring....
I have been hunting in parks and tot lots...
I have dug most all of the above signals and had a few clad finds on some but mostly junk... Hunting in coin and coin and jewel mode...

Looking for any suggestions about settings and such to weed out the junk a little better.. TKS

Default Xlt

Well being fairly new to the XLT I can tell you where you hunt will definitely dictate what trash and the amounts you'll get. There are certain 'tweaks' you can opt to do, but in doing so you will also dismiss some rings and other jewellery if tweaking too much.

I opt for digging just to see/hear what the XLT is telling me. With trashy areas, it is best to get a smaller coil, the XLT can separate things better. Remember, pulltabs can be rings, you just wouldn't want to overlook them permanently.

Just my 2cents, good luck.

ZOFFICE,
Don't get frustrated, you just need more practice. 6 hrs is a good start, the more you use your machine the more you learn about what its telling you.
Stay in Coin program. In this program the rejection of pull tabs is selected. As for the bottle caps, I'm guessing you are talking about aluminum bottle caps? If so you should dig these signals. Especaly if they are deep. Some real nice items have been found in this ID range.
Coin and jewelry program accepts more targets in the pull tab range. Start off learning the coin program, then progress up. After time you will learn the distinct little sound between a pull tab and a gold ring. It takes practice.
Good luck.

LaRoper is absolutely right. I always use coin/jewlery but i also dig alot of garbage. After using the xlt you will learn it better each time. There are many programs on the net but I always felt that the factory settings work great. I noticed that foil usually gives a broken or staticky signal. If I can help anymore feel free to ask and good luck. Just remember patience will pay off.
