Default Bigfoot or small coil?

I'm sure I will eventually wind up with both. I'm running the stocker now. I'd like a Bigfoot for speed, but also could use a small coil for working trash.

I'm also considering a "backup" machine. Would you get another XLT or a 5900/6000?

Thanks

I don't have enough experience to make a recomendation but I would like to welcome you to TQ. I do have an XLT but have not learned it well yet.

How much you want to spend on the back-up? This will help more with suggestions.

Never used a Bigfoot but tried other coils and the 5.3 Bullseye or Black Max labeled coils would be my small coil choice for the XLT.

The XLT requires a moderate to fast sweep speed to acquire optimal target detection depth and does suffer from target masking in high trash areas and cannot accomplish what a good 2 filter quick response and recovery speed detector will in my opinion.

I would suggest either an M6 or MXT as a backup to the XLT and depending on type of hunting you require would pick one over the other. Having said that i also have an IDX Pro and it's a great detector in my opinion but can only be purchased "Used" as it was discontinued. there are so many options with you second detector so take the time ask questions and think about it.Good Luck. Thumbs up Bigfoot

I own a Bigfoot and Love it. But it is not for the deeper rare coins. I only used it in club hunts and finding Quarters with coin ID in the parks, its great for those as you can cover alot of ground faster and you can pin point by the tip.

Hi, I looked into the Big Foot and the info I found was it is great for covering more area in a shorter time but lacks depth. Since I have plenty of time I really wanted something to add as much depth as I could get so ended up with the Hot Shot. Have only used it a couple of times but pulled a Buffalo nickel at 11 inches in a city park. Don't know if any of this helps but this is all I know for now.

I have a bigfoot on my XLT and love it. You can cover alot of ground very fast and it is very easy to pinpoint with. It always puts be right on the target. As far as depth, I am easily pulling coins out at 6-8". I am not sure that it is good for much more depth than that. It is a killer at the beach where most of your targets are in the 1-6" range. But I do alot of park and school yard hunting and it saves me alot of time and cover alot of ground fast. I would love to try one of the hotshot coils as well. I would like to hear more feedback on them as well.

Wink

I use a bigboot and have had tremendous success with it. I detect a lot of parks and sports fields. With tone ID on and VCO, the coin / jewelry program hits mosts targets.

I don't know about the bigfoot, but I have a sniper coil and I love it in trashy areas. And I've found deep coins with it.
