Default XLT on the beach?

I have now taken my Xlt to the beach twice and have no problems finding coins but no jewelry. Is there something I need to do to. I have been using the beach setting on the soft sand and Coin setting with the Transmit boost Off on the wet sand. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks

Default if it findin coins

it should be findingthe gold... do you have pull tabs discriminated out... gold earins and some small rings show up as pull tabs on my whites machine... try s few small gold items on an air test and see how they read by tone and display. this is why i air test my machines often with dif items.... just to keep familuar with what those treasure not only sound like but also in how the machine SHOWS me what it thinks i am about to dig. i dont have the xlt but this should help with any machine.

good luck and happy huntin...

tell gordon we are still prayin for him and the whole family

I am taking a tip from BigBill that he posted a couple of months ago. I am driving my family crazy cuz I keep having the swinging items in front of my xlt coil so I can learn the numbers and sound. I would probably be using the coin and jewelry program on the beach but I don't know much about it yet. Say hi to gordie form Kentucky and hope all is good. JC

The only discrimination that I use at the beach is iron and dig almost all signals.

If your detector is picking up gold in air tests, then you probably just haven't been over any yet.

Good luck and enjoy the beach!

Here is how I set up my Whites Eagle Specturm.
Select the Coin/jewelry program, then go to Pro Options, Discrimination, block edit, and accept everything from VDI 00 to VDI 95. Once this is done dig all signals. A lot of rings fall around pulltab, but most of the small ladies rings I have found fall at nickel or below. With practice you will learn the different sound between foil and a gold ring. Oh, I use tone ID to help tell the difference between gold rings and foil.
Hope this helps.

I agree with Minelabman. I was just down at the Jersey Beaches with my XLT and my Bigfoot coil. The machine was excellent. Within about 2 1/2 hours I had over 70 coins, a nice heavy sterling silver ring and a car key. Others were on the beach detecting and I was finding coins walking behind them in areas they already hunted. I was stable in wet and dry sand. The machine did go crazy once I stuck in in the water so I stayed just off the edge of the water line. I couldn't have been more pleased with the performance. The bigfoot coil is awesome for areas like the beach. The amount of area you can cover is amazing and I was finding coins in the sand that were 6-7" deep and had some corrosion on them so I knew they had been there for awhile. These beaches are hit hard so I felt may machine had to be performing better than many others that were there. I hope that helps a little. If you have any other questions let me know.
Bill
