Welcome to TQ, Betty! As you can see we have members who own th eXLT who can offer great advice. I don't own one but I will echo what Metalman said about most detectors are usually good to 6". After that it depends on a lot of things like the soil conditions, orientation of teh target in the ground, its size and composition and the hunting technique of the searcher.

We have some great posts in Metal Detecting Tips and any questions will surely get an answer!

Thanks for all your help I will try them when I get back in. My ship pulled out this morning and want be back in till this weekend. Thanks everyone for all you suggestions and comments.
