Hello Everybody,
I didn't know there were forums just for your type of detector, nice. I do not have a detector yet, still saving, but will get the XLT. I got the XLT DVD in the mail lastnight. Wow! What a lot of informaton. I knew the XLT was good but it seems like it can do a lot more. When they were going over the pro settings, i was lost on a lot of it. I couldn't believe how many settings you can make on it. Guess i still have a lot to learn yet. Are there any books or anything else on the XLT i can study to learn more? Thanks.

Hi XLT, I don't know of any particular books on the XLT but I'm sure they're out there, maybe some of the sponsors can help you there. If you do a Google search for XLT programs, you'll find different programs and other stuff that people use with their XLT's.

i dont think there are any books that would be helpful, but definitely read over the manual if you have one. the info in there is a lot less complicated then what's in the video.

The XLT isn't really difficult to learn the basics quickly and only takes a few adjustments to enhance the basic programs to get very good performance. Most problems occur when too many changes are made and the operator has no clue why they made the changes other than attempting to (Crank it Up).

There's a book called ""Spectrum Secrets" Third Edition by Kevin Mulrooney that has helped me greatly and reads like a book not a manual and relates is his personal experiences With the Eagle Spectrum and XLT.It's an easy read and simplifies the complexity of program facets on the XLT for the newer user and remains a great reference as you begin to alter the programs.

Just do a Google search for (Spectrum Secrets) and lots of sites show up and where to buy unless one of the Forum Sponsers have one for sale. Good Luck once you get the XLT. HH Bill

Kevin Mulrooney has a good book out as Bill De said but I also found a lot of info In the engineer report on the XLT. It only cost about $2.00 I know you will ove the XLT when you get it. Good Luck:santa1:

The XLT engineering report as gordiesgirl mentioned is also a great reference for the XLT but it really boils down to learning the basics and pushing the parameters to get the most out of the XLT.The amount of difficulty is really based on the degree of confidence that comes with experience through trial and error as we use any detector in the field. Once you get the XLT don't be afraid to ask questions.HH Bill

Hi Bill,
Thanks for your reply and advice. I will search for that book tonight. I do not have a manual yet either. Can i just buy a manual to read over? I assumed i had to wait to buy the XLT first to get the manual. I don't have a regular computer, so can not download anything. Thanks again for your help.

I have thought about this a bit and wanna suggest that you use your XLT in the default programs the first couple of months. They are quick and easy to get going and that will let you get used to swinging this great machine. Once you feel good about the coin mode or the jewelry and coin mode then will be the time to start changing your pro settings. There is always some time involved just getting used to what the machine is telling you and you don't need to be worrying about what the settings are at that point. Just some advice that I learned the hard way. I look forward to seeing some of your finds and if you have more questions just holler. Happpy Holidays. JC:santa2:
