Never thought I would even come close to finding this ...but this sure looks like the one I have...It is a nepolianic medallion or medal...I beleive mine is identical to the 3rd or 4th down on this page....Thought I would share....sure would like to know it's worth, course mine is not in this good of shape

Hey thanks for the thought on them clouds!!! It feels like it has been raining here for 3 months!!!
Finally get the time for some digging and then the rain sets in!!!Did get out a bit this morning and came home with a few relics and 3 wheats dating 1939S 1949D 1958D a few clad and didn't find that ring, but found a man's tape measurer that says Ellis Piston RING Sales Inc. Getting close Then the rain came!!!! I had to head home!!!Had fun and digging will have to wait for another day!!! HH to ya Pat ![]() |

I think you are right, Pat. It looks like it's Bramsen 326. Napoleon was the first to have a long series of medals struck for his accomplishments. They were catalogued by Bramsen and the site is an excellent overview of the field with a great introduction.
http://fortiter.napoleonicmedals.org...s/medintro.htm The British first tried to copy these medals (e.g. for the ill-fated raid on Walcheren), but demand was too small. They then hit on the idea of smaller, lighter and cheaper medals (e.g. the Porto Novo series), which sold a whole lot better. When the dearth of copper coins hit in 1792, the producers of the smaller medalets were among the first to make halfpenny trade tokens. Peter
