This is an Egyptian 5 piastres AH 1395 - 1975 AD issued to commemorate the UN's internationl year of the woman. Its catalog number is KM 447. There is also a 5 millièmes on this theme (10 millièmes = 1 piastre). These coins circulated in Egypt, so they could have come to the US with any tourist or Egyptian immigrant.

The obverse shows an ancient bust of Pharao Nefertiti with the logo of the international year of the woman in her crown. The right pic should be turned about 30° clockwise. The oval and script below it on the reverse is the denomination. The islamic date is at 5 o'clock, the christian date at 7 o'clock. The name of the country is on top.

It is pretty likely that this issue came about due to the influence of Jehan Sadat, Egypt's first lady from 1970 to 1981, an effective fighter for women's rights.
