Hi rip hows it goin? Anyways as for canadian silver the 1968coins some are made of 50% silver and the other 50% is steal or what ever. You can tell the difference in the color steal is shiny and the silver is dull and the magnet is a good way to tell to also keep your eye out for the 1969 large date dime not silver but worth a lot of canadian dollars hope this helps and good luck

Hi rip. Canadian 5 cent silver, dimes, quarters and halves pre 1919 are .925 silver. After 1921, 5 cent silver became nickel. In 1919 Dimes , quarters, halves became .800 silver up to and including1968.In 1968 they were .800 silver, .500 silver/nickel and nickel without any silver.Canadian clads are composed of mostly nickel. I still check my coins with a magnet just to be sure I haven't missed one. Hope this helps.
