cattails on a stick.

Got this at a yard sale,i was told it was from mexico.It is 5 cattails ? on a bamboo stick.i found a similar one that was used by witchdoctors in africa.anybody have any ideas to what this could be.

I had my suspicions as to what your item was when you posted it BUT I went and located one of my Mexican friends here in town and showed it to him. My suspicions were right ( as cruel as they may have been). My friend informs me that in Mexico they have CAT FIGHTS and DOG FIGHTS and COCK FIGHTS. All are illegal but they have them anyway. He say's that when these fights ( To the death) are held that the winner always get's the tails of the animals that lose the fight and that they make these TAIL POLES from those animals tails to display as a VICTORY symbol. If Cock fighting..they get the feet and spurs....Dog fighting...they get the tails or ears...Cat fights...they get the tails or ears......SICKNING HUH....OH WELL...have to overlook these poor demented folks ( that hold these fights) and press Onward and Upward....PAPPY

Yeesh! That is a morbid/disgusting thing to do to any animal. I have no problems with hunting game animals for consumption and certain damaging pests. But, I agree it's just sick to do something like that.

Yet -- I gotta' say, the "cat-scan" joke was still funny!

I love my animals!!! I think that is just terrible to make animals fight to the death!!! Can't stand the thought of someone abusing animals either!!!

Been out of sorts for quite a while and just looking things over and the things u can learn here in the forum is unreal, sure shows that there is very strange folks and customs, Jack
