Default Rough day; ran out of truck!

Yesterday I decided to try and head to an old gold/silver mining district with a couple ghost towns. The towns are on private land, the the mines are in forest property. Hoping to find some mining camp sites... Wasn't sure I could get to them from this side of the mountains, but the maps all showed roads, so what the heck! Well, about 5 miles or so left to go, I was working my way down a rocky talus hillside in 4H and the truck ran out of clearance. With no place to turn around, had to back the **** thing up the hill! Darn front hubs wouldn't stay locked either, so had a rough time. Of course, then it starts to rain. Hasn't rained hardly all year, but now it starts!

Couldn't go home empty-handed, so stopped at a picnic area and found lots of trash and a couple coins, then hit the local park out of despair. All-in-all, picked up about 25 coins. All but one clad; got one 1958D wheatie in the bunch. Oh, and now my truck's leakin oil! ARGH!!!

Default Not so bad

Who cares about the truck, you found a wheatie man !!

Seriously though, the mines and ghost towns off the beaten path like that sound like they would be worth the effort to get to. Maybe better luck next time, I would try again.

Default Another Idea

It might be time in invest in a used 3 or 4 wheeler. Load it in the back of your truck, find a nice place to park, unload it, go the rest of the way on your newly aquired 4 wheeler. You would be surprised how many more options that would give to ya.
