Found this button later in the day an eagle with a capital I in the middle , gold color , on the back it says scoviil mfg co. waterbury , any ideas sry again , what a idiot i am , this is not the button as you can see , i
ll get it right yet

with the back mark and all i'd say civilwar i button.(infantry) nice find. they will have (in the shield) i infantry, c calvery, plain. a artilary. ect. now if ya find cs in the shield ya got a good one.

I found the button on a civil war site , it is definetly and infanrty button from that era wow , never thought i'd find one like that here in iowa . it was about 8 to 9 inches down in ahunted out area , so i was told , i'll be back ther for sure thanks all and good hunting and i will get a picture of it as soon as i get it figured out
