The ground finally is thawed in Iowa. . . yahoo!
I had the week off from work, but only got out to do some coin shooting a couple of times this week, but I did OK.
An hour and a half in a small town park on Tuesday yeilded the first silver of the year - a nice first year Roosevelt dime - 1946, and a couple of wheaties.
Thursday I stopped at an old ballroom in Des Moines - built 1939 and talked to the building manager about shooting the parking lot. He readily said it was OK, but I would have to "hurry" because when it dried out it was going to be paved! He also proceded to tell me that he had a high-end Whites detector and that he had hit it pretty hard and never found anything old.
Cool! - 15 minutes later I found a beat up 1960 dime, a couple of wheaties and tons of clad. A random path half way round the building and about and hour and a half later - a solid quarter signal at about 3" depth - in the mud. When I flipped over the plug, I saw the reeded edge of what turned out to be a 1935 WL half dollar.

SWEET! And then the rain came....
Suppose to be sunny tomorrow - heading back before its paved over.
Sorry - no photo - I have not used my camera for a while.
Next time.
