Default Civil War bullet question

I recently found a 3 ring bullet that I discovered has a cavity. There is a smal hole in the nose of the bullet the size of a pin head. I can insert a paper clip in the hole about 1/4". Any ideas about the cavity?

Default Finds pic with bullet

Here's a pic of my finds.....not bad for about an hour of hunting. The bullet in question is the one on the top left. Notice the hole in the top.

Wink I agree

It looks and sounds like a pulled bullet, even though they usually have a larger hole in the tip.

(Pulled bullets were misfires that had a rod with a screw tip twisted into the end of the bullet to "pull" the projectile out of the barrel of muzzel loader rifles or pistols so they could be cleared for reloading. Remember the phrase "keep your powder dry".)
