wait a minute...isn't the machine too old for that??
I recently acquired one of the 1970-71 Whites Coinmaster TR machines that needed some attention. Paid just under $25 for it so I could play with it. Doctored it up a bit and got it humming again. Then took it out for a two hour field test.
No ground balance control, no discrimination control. This was just very basic all-metal, high-frequency TR hunting. Results: 4 quarters, 7 dimes, 4 nickels and 21 pennies. Lots of small aluminum trash and a few bottle caps.
Wait a minute... that's $2.11! That's 36 coins in 2 hours! Not sure if I do much better than that with my arsenal of much newer machines.
I'll guess I'll have to take some comfort in the fact that the deepest coin extracted was only 3 1/2 inches down. My Whites 5900 Di Pro SL does at least go deeper...
(p.s. sold the Coinmaster TR last week for a healthy $60!)
