Default Day two = two more coins

Yesterday, I received permission to hunt a vacant lot behind a church. This lot use to have an old building just a few years ago, and was recently razed. The area is super trashy, but I was able to pull a nice Jefferson War Nickel and Wheatie from there.. so I was optimistic.

The lady that granted me permission let me know that it was hunted immediately after the house came down. I wish I knew about the house sooner, so I could have been there earlier on. Either way, I knew there would be targets left behind (there always are). The place was insanely trashy, so today I thought I'd bring the 5" and to see if I could snipe some targets.

Lots of surface clad was distracting me, but I was able to pull two good keepers.

1944 S Mercury Dime

Thanks for lookin!

Default You are on the roll

You have made some great finds lately.

Thanks for mentioning the small loop. I have a 5". I need to make sure that is in my vehicle. I am road tripping to extreem SE Iowa today. Only place in Iowa there was any Civil War possibilities. I need to make sure I have all the tools along.

Happy digging!

Thanks! I've been really trying to get out every day when it's not raining.

I try to keep my small loop in the vehicle at all times. I really wish I was better with it, I just need more practice.. and more PATIENCE. The coverage area of the 5" just kills me. The only way I can really deal with it is by first covering the area with my 8" and then hit the rough noisy patches with the 5" later. This is the only way I don't 'feel' like I'm missing stuff.. or running out of time.

Good luck on your hunt. I wish there were civil war sites remotely near where I live.

Thanks!
DB
