Smile Quality find with my x-terra 30

7 days into the use of my new x-terra 30. "today 5/08/07": one (1972) Eisenhower dollar. one(1971) kennedy 1/2 dollar. and two(the size of 1/2 dollars) pennys, one is dated 1920, the other is dated 1907, and 12 1970's vintage american pennys. all of these coins were from one hole approx 7" deep by 3" wide. i had heard about those "big" pennys, and now i have two of them.
good hunting to all. *Patrick*

Wow, that sounds like quite the haul. May I ask where you were hunting?

Nice find! I bet whoever lost those are kickin' themselves. Maybe it was another detectorist who lost them.

Smile The "Large pennys" i found( the size of a half dollar)

i was looking through some coins books today and discovered the "Large pennys" i found are some kind of "British Farthings", but the word "penny" is where the word "farthing should be. one is dated 1920, the other one is dated 1907. when looking at the heads-up side, the two men (one on each coin) are facing each other. one the reverse side there is the image of someone setting down, holding a trident(three pointed spear) in the left hand. the right hand hanging in the down position holding what looks like a round shield. wish i could send pictures of these coins, but have no way of doing so at this time.
someone asked where i found these coins. i live in Lewiston, Id.(U.S.A.) and that's where i found them, in the area where i live,... the area around where i live, was, many, many long years ago(way back in the early 1950) was mostly fruit orchards.
"good hunting to all" *Patrick*

Sounds very interesting. Can't wait until someone can perhaps shed a little more light on these coins.
