I have been away from home on a trip to the east coast (of Iowa) for the last week. I am cataloging my finds now, so here is my efforts from last Sunday, 5/6.
When I was finally free to hunt, and found a good looking spot, the rains came. I HAD to get my MDing fix, so I bagged the control panel, and was rewarded with two early wheats in 10 minutes. I was only able to hunt for about 30 minutes, and these were the only two coins I found.
This spot was about 6 city blocks from the Mississippi river in Burlington, IA. I would love to make it back to these vacant lots, but I read in a newspaper the next day that this is where they will be rebuilding the ~1900 school nearby on some close by vacant lots in September. It's 160 miles from home, so I doubt I will make it back.
The rain did stop before sundown, and I found a great looking park nearby, but my DFX refused to ground balance - I guess due to the lightning in the area.
So I headed on down the road looking for tomorrow's sites. . . . .
