Default walnut size steel ball

Well, I did not get out on Saturday as I wanted to after work, shortly after I got home, it got cloudy and there was some lightening going on, so I stayed home.
But today was nice, so I went out for a couple of hours after getting off work, did not find much today, a walnut size steel ball, looks like an industrial grade ball bearing, a key chain and a 2001 penny, I did have to adjust my metal detector to filter out iron though, as much as I hated to, I kept getting hits all over the place, and finally had enough sense to take a look at the soil and noticed a reddish tint to it! Have Monday off though, good time to go to the park, as many people were there today for Mothers Day!

Back in acient times, when I was a boy, we used those as "shooters" and called them "steelies" when playing marbles.

Default Don't cha hate it!

Don't you hate it when you dig and come up with orange/red stuff in the soil! That means the metal detector is all over the place and indicating false targets. I get false indications even when in jewelry or coin modes with that stuff.
I run into a lot of it around piers and beachs where something has been demolished.
I used to have some steelies too. They were great for playing chase marbles. You could split a cat's eye with one.
Happy hunting
