Default not much silver

I'm 3 weeks into this, and still seem to come up short of silver, finding a lot of boarderline stuff, 1965,1966,1967, seem to be just missing.

I did not find a silver coin until I did some research and found a good spot to hunt. Patience, research and a lot of digging will bring silver.

I may have to lower my expectations. I had unrealistic thoughts of what I'd find when I started. I live in a historic town in Connecticut, and most areas were settled here in the 1600s. I'm going down to the historical society and getting a couple books, and old maps of the area, and its history. This will hopefully set my sights on paydirt! I was wondering if anyone ever asked for permission, and was granted the right to search fairgrounds? The town I live in has run an agricultural fair for over 100 years at the same site. It is fenced in, so obviously I'd need permission, just wondered if anyone was granted permission for this type of site, and how productive it was if you searched.

Had a nice day today, as I dug out a 1923 Mercury dime. It amazes me how the clad comes out so dirty, and corroded at times, while the silver comes out shiny, looking like it was dropped moments ago. This coin was in mint condition, and I also found 4 wheaties, 2 of them had dates that were unreadable.

Well I sort of got permission. Here in Mn we have the Minnesota state fair. I called up there about a week ago to have permission to search the grounds. Well the person I talked to was kind of stumped with my question. Well after a little small talk we decided that I would go ahead and go search (waiting until after the fair is over this year) and if anyone tells me to leave then I will. Been trying to plan what I will say to someone if they ask me to leave because I really do not want to give up on this place. Well anyways, go for it and ask for permission. The worst that can happen is they say no. I would say to perhaps tell them that you will of course you will remove any trash items you find. Always try to make it sound like there is something in it for them too. Let us know how it goes.

I just noticed you live in Florida. I used to play professional baseball, and lived in Sarasota for a couple of years, and also Winter Haven. My inlaws spend the winter in Englewood on the west coast, and usually go down there every winter to visit. It is actually how I got interested in md-ing. I was walking on Manasota Beach, and this guy was down there detecting, and it fascinated me what he was finding, so here I am
