Default ID help needed

my detecting buddy found a curious item about nine inches down, I don't have a picture of the item yet, but I am sure most have one in their wallet right now. On the back of a dollar bill, the picture of the great seal. My buddy found a medallion or something. It's about 1 1/2" in diameter, probably brass, with a threaded post on the back. Any ideas??? sorry about no photo, at work right now.

Thanks

Could be some type of hat badge, like on a police officer's hat?

I have seen civil war buttons with the Great Seal on them, but none have a threaded post on the back. Your probably right, I was thinking about a hat badge or something on the horse's equipment.

Default US Air Force Hat badge?

Does it look anything like this enlisted cap badge from the US Air Force:
Green's badges of the USA 1

It's plated brass with a screw back

Thanks
Leo

Default sure does

Looks alot like that one, only a bit corroded and there's no paint left. I don't think it's quite as pronounced either, a little flatter. That's definately the design, and the closest match I have seen so far. Any ideas on era?

Red face Too old to remember more

Sorry I can't be more specific than remembering seeing it as a teen in the late 1960's

Thanks
