MD finds, spear point, and pottery!!!
Went to the back side of Arkabutla Lake today. It's still very low and plenty of places to look. Found an old home site at the edge of the lake and found 4 Wheaty's the oldest being 1919. I was wondering around the edge and found a field recently plowed. I walked up to the edge of the field and lying right on top of the ground like someone had placed it there was this beautiful spear point! I also found 2 pieces of what looks to be indian clay pottery. Tell me what you think.

Nice point Rob ! dont know about the clay shards but they look to be native American.

Very Nice Point Bob...
...it's funny sometimes how we can just walk up on a perfectly good point when we aren't even looking for one. If that lake is a natural one, chances are quite good that there are many more to find!
The pottery definitely looks like "pottery" to me. Any markings on the pieces? The best advice I've ever heard given when it comes to finding arrowheads was "look for a shape that is not natural, one that looks different from all of the other stones and pebbles laying around, one that looks man made." Most points somewhat resemble a "Christmas Tree", either right side up, or upside down. Also look for a flint like material, that has some "work on the edges", chipping and sharpening it. I'd go back to looking there again and again!
