Default Penny day!

found 24 pennies today, 4 dimes, the front part of a small gold hart shaped locket and the shoe from a monopoly game.
Would have stayed longer and probably found more, but the park I was detecting in was in the middle of downtown, and as soon at 1130a hit, it started to fill up. But I had it to myself for a full three hours.

Default update

I had to clean off the coins, some were caked in clay, and I could not make out the dates and backs, so I used a q-tip and some warm water.
Well, looks like a better find then I thought, have 2 wheats, 1921 and 1939 and a 1964 dime! The last year they made silver Roosevelts.

Coin: 1965 Silver Dime
Estimated Value: $9000+
Background: The official production of silver dimes were discontinued in 1964. Begginning in 1965 dimes were made out of copper and nickel. A silver 1965 dime is a mistake (and a rare one).

Only a few have been found, but more are believed to still be in circulation.

Wow, that would have made my day, to bad I did not find a 1965 silver! I have some 1965's but they all are clad, you can see the copper edge.
